Eucalyptus

Latin name: Eucalyptus ssp.

Origin: Eucalyptus has been transplanted worldwide. Generally veneer is from southern Europe or North America.

Characteristics: Color varies from light-grey to olive to light brown. Color variation within a log is normal. Figure can vary from light with regular 90 degree angles up to very strong figures resembling stairs. Most common is a bee’s wing figure. Checking can occur on the veneer face with strong figure. Press cycles and temperature need to be adjusted properly to avoid hairline cracking in the face.

Uses: Interior and side architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
