Sycamore, Cluster

Latin name: Acer spp.

Origin: Central Europe

Characteristics: Almost white in color, wood yellows under light and air exposure if veneers are not dried quickly. Abnormal growth causes trunk to develop well defined clustered burl patches in between the swirl.  It often develops intense “muscle” and “angel step” highlights that add depth and often seem to sparkle.

Use: Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
