Latin name: Celtis occidentalis

Origin: Southern Canada and Eastern United States

Characteristics: Sapwood and heartwood color varies from yellow-grey to light brown with yellow streaks. Subject to blue stain. Has an irregular grain, occasionally straight and sometimes interlocked creating tension in the logs. Has fairly fine and uniform texture.

Uses: Fine furniture and kitchen cabinets.
