Characteristics:  Heartwood varies from rich red to reddish-brown with a fine closed grain. Some logs develop a mottle or herringbone figure. Character marks include pin knots and gum pockets. Available in plain sliced, quartered and figured variations.

Uses: Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
