Flake Oak Renovation

Once in great demand in the North American office furniture and panel market, Flake White Oak has faded in popularity but still creates timeless woodwork for spaces that demand sophistication and warmth.

Earlier this year, we were given the opportunity to provide hand-selected veneer for a confidential office renovation project that required the replacement of previous Flake Oak wall paneling along with some new woodwork to complement the space.

This project required veneer with as much sequence as possible, which is a difficult goal to accomplish in Flake Oak. Only a small amount of each Oak log will produce flake figure as it only appears when cutting directly parallel to the log’s medullary rays. Coupling this with trying to match the previous flake pattern that adorned the walls of this facility, was a challenge but resulted in new woodwork to be appreciated well into the future.
